The Pathfinders and its affiliates provide corporate site selection and facilities consulting services to many of the world's largest corporations. The focus of those services has included location analyses for new facilities, acquisition and disposition of facilities, strategic facilities planning and feasibility studies. The following provides a representative example by sector or consulting category:
SITE SELECTION - Manufacturing
AFG Industries A site search to determine the optimum location for AFG Industries for a glass plant to serve the Midwest as a complement to their Tennessee and California operations, considering work force issues, utilities, taxation, incentives offered by candidate locations, transportation, and markets.
SITE SELECTION - Communications
AT&T A project undertaken to identify a facility for a research facility in or near Tokyo, Japan and to negotiate the lease or purchase of that facility.
SITE SELECTION - Call Center
AIG Multiple site searches and location analyses projects for AIG Insurance to determine the optimum location for large, in-bound call center operations. These AIG projects involved comprehensive workforce assessments.
SITE SELECTION - Areospace
Lockheed The identification of a complex to house Lockheed's contract maintenance operations in consideration of trained aircraft maintenance workers, runways and hangars to house jumbo-jet aircraft.
SITE SELECTION - Financial Services
Independent National Bank A feasibility study for the Independent National Bank to determine the advisability of and location for branch bank operations in consideration of demographics, market demand and costs of construction or leasing and operations.
SITE SELECTION - Distribution
AMC Vigoro A site-selection project for AMC Vigoro for a midwest lawn fertilizer products production plant and midwest distribution center.
SITE SELECTION - Aquisition
Hoechst Celanese The acquisition through a long-term lease of a 400,000 square foot back office/division headquarters facility.
STRATEGIC PLANNING
MBNA America NA is the nation's second largest bank card (MasterCard and Visa) issuer. Headquartered in Newark, Delaware, the bank employed The Pathfinders to prepare a strategic corporate facilities plan to govern the ownership and operation of the bank's current facilities inventory and to provide for additional facilities at multiple locations throughout the world to accommodate projected growth over a 15-year period. Further, MBNA asked that The Pathfinders assess the accuracy of such growth projections given changes in technology, regulation, and other pertinent factors which may affect the financial services industry in the foreseeable future.
FEASIBILITY STUDIES
Zambezi Mills A feasibility study in Zambia for Zambezi Mills to determine if an expansion of their pulp mill to accommodate adding a process to convert jute bags to paper products would be a viable business operation. The purpose of the feasibility study was to obtain World Bank financing for the project.
FEASIBILITY STUDIES
Domestic A study for Continental Mines to determine the feasibility of converting the lands at their 20,000-acre copper mine near Silver City, New Mexico to an industrial park for heavy industry.
DISPOSITION
DuPont An analysis of the reuse potentials and marketability of DuPont's industrial complexes in Nashville, Tennessee; Tacoma, Washington; and, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
